Job Description

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer based in the Louisville, KY area for a large-scale industrial project starting immediately. This role combines remote work with on-site responsibilities, including taking field measurements and coordinating with our local field/sales representative.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager but will be assigned to specific projects under the supervision of the Mechanical Project Engineer.
• Create clear and precise fabrication detail drawings and installation layouts based on the project scope, specifications, and estimate, including purchase components and fabrication material call outs on drawings.
• Design mechanical equipment based on the project scope, specifications, and estimate.
• Incorporate standards and specifications into drawings, including customer, local, state, and national codes and safety regulations.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with electrical and controls teams, including describing equipment operation and integrating electrical control devices into the design.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for the purchase and fabrication of mechanical components.
• Collaborate with other departments such as sales/estimators, project management, fabrication, safety, and installation.
• Check drawings for thoroughness and accuracy, including self-checking one's own drawings.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical engineering knowledge
• Proficiency in design software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD
• Experience in the Automotive Industry
• Experience within the Conveyor or Material Handling Industry
• Experience designing mechanical equipment

Work Environment

You will work in a hybrid setting, combining remote work with occasional visits to the plant for field measurements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year.
