Job summary

BP PLC in Houston, TX is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop 3D models and detailed drawings for landfill gas to energy and RNG skid systems. You will use SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create CAD models, P&IDs, BOMs, and documentation for projects.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical design, with proficiency in Autodesk/AutoCAD and SolidWorks, GD&T, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid office/remote setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Associates Degree in Mechanical Design.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience with Autodesk/AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (ANSI Y14.5).
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Design LFGTE and RNG skid equipment using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Create or revise CAD models, drawings, P&ID drawings, BOMs and other documents.
  • Perform piping design calculations and size verifications.
  • Prepare BOM, Instrumentation list and design specs.
  • Collaborate with design team to meet equipment specs and deadlines.
  • Provide engineering support to operations (LFGTE and RNG) and maintain drawings control.

The team operates around 50 sites in 32 states with a robust development pipeline.**About the role**The Design Engineer is responsible for 3D design and creation of technical drawings for landfill gas to energy facilities (LFGTE) and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) skid equipment, compression packages as-built drawings, & modification drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.**Key accountabilities*** Design responsibility of LFGTE and RNG BTU skid equipment using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.* Create or revise accurate, detailed SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, P&ID drawings, BOM’s, and other engineering documentation as required.* Performs design calculations for pipe sizes. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
