Job summary

Avery Dennison Corporation in Azusa, CA seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Engineering Technology group. You will design and optimize mechanical systems for high-speed manufacturing, support global projects, and collaborate with vendors and plants worldwide.

The role requires hands-on work with equipment, CAD proficiency, GD&T knowledge, and travel domestically and internationally; a Bachelor's degree and 3–9 years of experience are expected, masters a plus.

Qualifications

  • 3–9+ years of relevant engineering experience with a Bachelor's Degree; Masters preferred.
  • Strong mechanical design skills with process technology understanding.
  • Proficient in CAD tools and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • FEM knowledge a plus; able to travel domestically and internationally.

Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Technology group in Azusa, CA. The Engineering Technology group is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing proprietary process technologies and equipment for our manufacturing plants worldwide. Technologies can include; manufacturing RFID devices, precision coating, extrusion, thermal embossing, drying/curing, lamination and other web-based processes such as printing and label converting. This position will support project execution through all phases, from concept design, to scale-up, to commercialization and requires close collaboration with vendors and Avery Dennison plants globally.

Responsibilities

Design and analyze mechanical systems, with focus on tight tolerance machine design and high speed manufacturing systems.

Support global projects that require both mechanical design and process expertise.

Inspect, install, and commission proprietary equipment in manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Coordinate and manage resources, including outside vendors and Avery Dennison divisional personnel, to ensure that the equipment and processes provided meet all requirements and specifications.

Design and test necessary prototypes / experiments in support of design and project objectives.

Create and maintain technical documentation.

Qualifications
  • 3 - 9+ years of relevant engineering industry experience with a Bachelor's Degree. A Masters Degree is a plus.

Must possess good mechanical design skills and process technology understanding. Capable of taking a project from concept design through commercialization.

Demonstrated proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.

Good drafting skills; familiar with GD&T, ASME Y14.5 Standards,

Knowledge and experience in Finite Element Modeling for structural, heat transfer, and fluid flow analyzes a plus.

Ability to work hands-on with equipment, machines, and inspection devices.

Proven analytical mindset for overcoming engineering challenges and problems.

Must be willing and able to travel within the US and internationally.

Good organizational and planning skills; ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

Additional Information

Pay Transparency:

The salary range for this position is $91,350 - $136,416. The salary range represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
