Job summary

Sterling is hiring a Mechanical Design Drafter to join our engineering team. The role focuses on designing manufacturing and production for sheet metals and plastics, using SolidWorks for drafting and assembly modeling and ensuring alignment with manufacturing processes.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of mechanical design experience, familiarity with ASME Y14.41/Y14.5, and knowledge of electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in an engineering technical field is a plus.
• Five-plus years of practical, relevant industry experience in mechanical design.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.41 & Y14.5.
• Working familiarity with Windows 10, MS Office, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Basic understanding of electrical schematics and/or ladder diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Designing manufacturing/production for sheet metals and plastics processes.
• Manages ERP documents.
• Utilizes SolidWorks to create draft designs using sheet metal design package, top-down modeling and assembly techniques.
• Collaborates with engineering and other groups as needed by the business.
• Participates in continuous improvement to reduce costs in part/product design.
• Interprets Product Requirements for concept and presentation.
