Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Drafter in Frederick, MD to design and draft mechanical components, focusing on sheet metal enclosures and HVAC products. You will manage projects from concept to completion, develop detailed documentation, and ensure designs are manufacturable with SolidWorks and 2D/3D CAD tools.

The role requires hands-on CAD experience, collaboration with engineering and manufacturing, and adherence to accuracy and project requirements.

Qualifications

• 25 years of on-the-job experience with 3D CAD and SolidWorks.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools and drawing production.
• Experience leading design tasks from concept through completion.

Responsibilities

• Manage design and drafting projects from concept to completion with accuracy and timeliness.
• Provide design solutions balancing performance, manufacturability and cost.
• Prepare complete product documentation including BOM relationships and part dimensions.
• Create and update drawings: system, assembly, weldment and isometric drawings.
• Revise drawings using engineering change requests and red-lined docs.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to resolve issues in production and document actions.
• Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Maintain accurate bills of materials and ERP/MRP alignment.
• Support product lifecycle data management and keep design docs organized.
• Perform other related design and drafting duties as needed.
