Job summary

Global Connect Technologies in Raymond, OH, is seeking a Design and Simulation Engineer to support BIW stamping development through feasibility studies, tooling planning, and equipment verification for body frame components.

You will improve manufacturability via stamping simulation, formability analysis, tooling development, and cross-functional engineering support, working with cross-functional teams to deliver robust designs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of automotive part/forming simulation experience.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in automotive manufacturing or product development.
• Hands-on AutoForm experience, preferably including R10.
• Experience with JSTAMP / J-Stamp and PAM-STAMP simulation tools.
• Strong knowledge of automotive sheet metal forming and stamping processes.

Responsibilities

• Support automotive body frame stamping feasibility and formability studies from initial styling through drawing release.
• Perform sheet metal forming and stamping simulations using AutoForm, JSTAMP, and/or PAM-STAMP.
• Develop part data proposals, tooling process plans, and rough layouts.
• Analyze forming issues such as splits, wrinkles, thinning, springback, and other manufacturability concerns.
• Develop and optimize stamping tooling specifications and process plans.
• Support tooling development from initial drawing release through die go.
• Monitor engineering/design changes and update tooling and process plans accordingly.
• Support manufacturing problem-solving and root cause analysis related to stamping and sheet metal forming.
• Provide technical recommendations to design, manufacturing, tooling, quality, and production teams.
• Support new model equipment and tooling verification activities.
• Work with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability, quality, cost, and program timing.

Job Summary

The Design and Simulation Engineer will support new model Body-in-White (BIW) development by performing stamping feasibility studies, tooling and process planning, and equipment verification for automotive body frame components.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of automotive part/forming simulation experience.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in automotive manufacturing or product development.
• Hands-on experience with AutoForm, preferably including AutoForm R10.
• Experience with JSTAMP / J-Stamp and PAM-STAMP simulation tools.
• Strong experience with CATIA V5, including automotive surfacing.
• Strong knowledge of automotive sheet metal forming and stamping processes.
• Experience with stamping tooling, dies, tooling specifications, and process planning.
• Knowledge of automotive production facilities and new model development processes.
• Strong analytical, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
