Job description

Mechanical Cost Estimator (Remote)

Kadiak, LLC, is seeking a Mechanical Cost Estimator to join our team supporting the Department of State. This is a remote position.

Responsibilities include:

1. Review solicitation documents and understand scope of work to bid.
2. Perform site surveys to understand project conditions and incorporate this information into cost estimates.
3. Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems and components, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems, itemizing costs for the bill of materials.
4. Develop and maintain cost databases for mechanical systems to assist in estimate preparation.
5. Coordinate with other estimators to ensure proper allocation of project costs.
6. Review subcontractor bids and proposals, as well as material costs, for accuracy and competitiveness.
7. Maintain accurate records of estimates and related documentation, including change orders.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years of cost estimating experience, with at least 5 years in mechanical systems.
• Experience with OCONUS projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and construction practices.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations pertaining to mechanical systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with RS Means or similar databases.
• Top Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
