Job summary

System One seeks a Mechanical Coordinator in Baytown, TX for a 6-month onsite contract. You will coordinate maintenance timelines, direct third-party trades, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards on site.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans, assisting with testing and startups, and managing submittals and vendor logs. A strong industrial/mechanical background with turbine experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ to 10+ years in heavy industrial or power generation construction.
• Background in heavy frame combustion turbines preferred.
• Deep knowledge of power plant mechanical systems, blueprints, and rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate timelines for routine mechanical maintenance, preventive maintenance, and major outages.
• Direct third-party mechanical trades on-site to align with blueprints, P&IDs, and quality standards.
• Enforce OSHA regulations and hazardous energy isolation protocols on site.
• Review engineering plans to prepare PO for mechanical components, piping, and tool rentals.
• Assist plant engineers with testing, quality inspections, and startup operations for new or repaired systems.
• Manage submittals, vendor logs, and as-built drawing updates after field modifications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate timelines for routine mechanical maintenance, preventative maintenance, and major plant outages or overhauls.
• Direct third-party mechanical trades on-site to ensure work aligns with project blueprints, P&IDs, and strict quality standards.
• Enforce Calpine's strict industrial safety regulations, including OSHA guidelines and hazardous energy isolation protocols.
• Review engineering plans to prepare purchase orders for mechanical components, piping, pipe supports, and specific tool rentals.
• Assist plant engineers with testing, quality inspections, and startup operations for newly installed or repaired mechanical systems.
• Manage technical submittals, maintain vendor logs, and assist with "as-built" drawing updates after field modifications.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent paired with technical trade school or military service is standard; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred.
• Generally requires 5 to 10+ years of heavy industrial or power generation construction experience, with a solid preference for backgrounds featuring heavy frame combustion turbines.
• Deep knowledge of power plant mechanical systems, blueprint reading, shaft-to-shaft alignment, pumps, valves, and rotating equipment.
