Job summary

Skillforce, in partnership with a leading mechanical contractor, seeks a Mechanical Construction Superintendent to oversee commercial and industrial projects from Charleston, SC with occasional local travel. This full-time, direct-hire role demands strong leadership and hands-on coordination of mechanical crews, with responsibility for schedules, safety, and field documentation.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in mechanical construction, 3+ years in leadership, and solid BIM/digital

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial/industrial mechanical construction experience.
• 3+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, sheet metal, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of OSHA and jobsite safety requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Journeyman/Master license and OSHA 30 preferred.
• Experience with large commercial/industrial projects and BIM/digital construction tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical foremen, apprentices, helpers, and subcontractors.
• Plan daily activities and maintain short-term schedules.
• Ensure work meets drawings, specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with GCs, other trades, inspectors, and Project Managers.
• Monitor manpower, productivity, and project progress.
• Take off, price, and order materials.
• Assist with change orders, inspections, punch lists, and closeout.
• Maintain daily reports and field documentation.

This is a full-time, direct hire position based out of Charleston, SC with occasional local travel.

Mechanical Construction Superintendent Key Responsibilities
