Job summary

Jennings Mechanical in Charleston, SC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations on commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects. This role focuses on safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of on-site work and coordination with project teams.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in mechanical construction with 3+ years in supervision, strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, sheet metal, and reading drawings.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in commercial and/or industrial mechanical construction.
• 3+ years in a supervisory role leading field crews.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, sheet metal, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Solid OSHA safety understanding and practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all on-site mechanical construction activities
• Manage mechanical foremen, apprentices, helpers, and subcontractors
• Plan daily work activities and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules
• Ensure work is performed per drawings, specifications, codes, and scope of work
• Enforce Jennings Mechanical, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements
• Coordinate work with general contractors, other trades, and inspectors
• Monitor labor productivity and communicate progress to Project Management
• Take off, get pricing and order materials such as not limited to snap locke, flex , etc.
• Assist with change orders, inspections, punch lists, and project closeout
• Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, and field documentation

Job Overview

Jennings Mechanical is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations on commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects. This role is responsible for driving safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of work in the field.

The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader and works closely with Project Managers, Foremen, subcontractors, inspectors, and customers to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to Jennings Mechanical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all on-site mechanical construction activities

• Manage mechanical foremen,apprentices, helpers, and subcontractors

Qualifications

Required

• 8+ years of experience in commercial and/or industrial mechanical construction and 3+ years in a supervisory role

• Proven experience supervising mechanical field crews

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, sheet metal, plumbing, and mechanical systems

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety practices

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred

• Journeyman or Master license in HVAC, plumbing, or pipefitting (as applicable)

• OSHA 30 certification

• Experience on large commercial or industrial projects

• Experience working in South Carolina or the Southeast

• Familiarity with BIM coordination and digital construction tools
