We seek a Mechanical Construction Inspector for construction management and inspection services in the New York Metropolitan area. Projects include public housing, education, airports, rail/transportation, and other public buildings. Experience should include inspecting building systems and mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, HVAC units, ductwork, piping, plumbing, and BMS. This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship except for TN visa.

Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $115,000, depending on experience, education, and certifications. The range is an estimate; actual salary may vary.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Interpret plans and specs; prepare documentation such as work reports, inspection reports, and material records.
2. Identify potential extra work issues; advise the Resident Engineer/PM.
3. Estimate extra work; prepare sketches and documentation.
4. Review plans for constructability; provide comments.
5. Review payment requests; provide feedback to the Resident Engineer/PM.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of the latest Building Codes.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• Valid Driver's license.
• OSHA 30-hour safety training, fall protection, and confined space entry.
• 8+ years of construction inspection experience across various project sizes and complexities.

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical, civil, architectural, and structural aspects preferred.
• ICC and Work Zone Safety Certifications preferred.

Working Conditions

Primarily fieldwork involving physical activities like bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Conditions may vary from heat to cold, wet to dry.
