Job summary

Vantage Consulting seeks Mechanical Commissioning Engineers for data center projects on the East Coast, including Northern Virginia and Indiana. Roles span L1–L5 levels, with opportunities to advance into commissioning leadership and senior positions.

Travel to project sites is expected; home-based work is possible when not on site. Ideal candidates have HVAC commissioning experience, strong knowledge of chiller plants, cooling infrastructure, and BAS/BMS controls, with clear QA/QC and testing

Qualifications

• HVAC commissioning experience on data center projects.
• Experience with large-scale cooling infrastructure.
• Knowledge of BAS/BMS controls and sequences of operation.
• Ability to verify equipment readiness and perform startup support.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical installation verification, QA/QC inspections, equipment readiness, startup support, pre-functional checks, point-to-point verification and equipment-level testing.
• Functional Performance Testing, cooling redundancy testing, BAS/BMS sequence verification, Integrated Systems Testing and commissioning leadership.

I'm supporting a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that's expanding its mechanical commissioning team to deliver major data center projects across Northern Virginia and Indiana.

With a substantial pipeline of work and continued investment in its commissioning division, the business is looking to hire engineers across multiple experience levels.

That includes L1–L3 Mechanical Commissioning Engineers as well as more senior professionals with L4 Functional Performance Testing and L5 Integrated Systems Testing experience.

What experience are we looking for?

Mechanical Commissioning Engineers, HVAC Commissioning Engineers, Mechanical Commissioning Specialists and experienced HVAC professionals with relevant commissioning exposure.

Experience with the following systems is particularly relevant:

• Chillers, cooling towers and chilled-water systems
• Pumps, VFDs, CRAH/CRAC units and AHUs
• BAS/BMS controls and sequences of operation
• Cooling redundancy, equipment startup and functional testing

We're recruiting across two experience levels:

L1–L3 Engineers:

Mechanical installation verification, QA/QC inspections, equipment readiness, startup support, pre-functional checks, point-to-point verification and equipment-level testing.

L4–L5 Senior Engineers:

Functional Performance Testing, mechanical failure scenarios, cooling redundancy testing, BAS/BMS sequence verification, Integrated Systems Testing and commissioning leadership.
