Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking an Associate Designer in Fort Walton Beach, FL. The role involves mechanical design work using CAD systems, creating parts and assemblies, and documenting engineering changes.

The position requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent, plus familiarity with design/engineering concepts and 3D CAD experience as a plus. The candidate will draw views, specify dimensions and materials, and collaborate with engineers.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required or preferred.
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within designing or engineering.
• Applied experience with 3D CAD systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create routine mechanical designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or systems using CAD; compile Bills of Materials; assist in prototype assembly.
• Draw multiple views; depict relationships of components; specify dimensions, tolerances, materials; prepare BOMs and specifications; process Engineering Change Orders; ensure quality and cost parameters.
• Ensure drawing quality and functionality by assisting prototype creation, testing, and analysis; perform calculations such as strength of materials and stresses; evaluate proposed changes for fit and interference.
• Contribute to team efforts by performing related tasks in a cooperative manner.
• Support and reinforce the mission, values and culture of the organization.
• Maintain technical knowledge by consulting specialists and attending workshops; networking; pursuing professional development.
