Job summary

Leidos Defense Sector in North Alabama seeks a Mechanical/Aerospace Electrical/Cable Design Engineer to design electrical power and signal cables and related hardware, using CAD tools and Windchill PLM. You will collaborate with senior designers to deliver robust cable assemblies for defense systems, ensuring compliance with standards and looping in government guidance as needed.

Candidates must have a relevant engineering degree with experience, be able to work onsite in Huntsville, and hold US

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Associate’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Proficient in CAD software and able to learn new tools and techniques.
Familiar with government and industry standards.
Ability to work onsite at a Leidos facility and independently with limited supervision.
Basic understanding of cable design needs, routing considerations, and mechanical design principles.
Flexible and capable of switching between tasks and toolsets.
Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
US Citizenship is required.
Position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

Design the electrical power and signal cables and related hardware.
Use 2D/3D CAD software and Windchill to bring components to life.
Develop working knowledge of government and industry-standard connectors and cable parts.
Work independently with guidance from senior designers.
