  • Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues and adjust processes as needed.
  • Complete production reports and other documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
  • Follow safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Work with supervisors and team to meet production goals.

Job description

Position Title: Mechanical Assembly Wage: $17.50 per hour Shift: 1st Hours: 6:00am-2:00pm QPS Employment Group has a great Mechanical Assembly position available at a company in Quincy, IL. This is a 1st shift position with the opportunity for hire.

Mechanical Assembly Responsibilities
  • Assemble components, parts, subassemblies, and finished products according to work instructions, blueprints, schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and standard assembly equipment safely and effectively.
  • Read, interpret, and follow assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and basic blueprints.
  • Perform both fine and gross motor tasks to accurately assemble products.
  • Operate standard tools and equipment used to build products and monitor process control and product quality.
  • Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure assembled products meet company specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues and make appropriate adjustments to component placement, dimensions, or assembly processes.
  • Complete required production reports, quality forms, and other documentation accurately.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of materials, components, and supplies at the workstation.
  • Assist with packaging, labeling, and staging finished products as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, work instructions, and operational procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with supervisors, quality personnel, and team members to meet production and quality goals.
Mechanical Assembly Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience using hand tools required.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings and basic blueprints.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of 8–10 hours during a shift.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and perform repetitive assembly tasks.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for assembly, tool operation, and material handling.
  • Ability to climb ladders as required.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move materials and components.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Visual ability to inspect assembled components, read blueprints and schematics, and identify defects or quality concerns.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring both fine and gross motor skills.
Preferred Requirements
  • Previous mechanical assembly experience.
  • Previous electrical assembly or manufacturing experience.
  • Hand soldering experience.
  • Basic measuring and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with production documentation or inventory tracking.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
