Job summary

Marvin Engineering Co. in Inglewood, CA is seeking an experienced assembler to join our mechanical assembly team. You will align and install subassemblies, read blueprints, and use hand tools and drilling/rivet equipment to build precise components.

This is a 100% onsite role with growth opportunities based on experience and education. The successful candidate will perform quality checks, follow safety procedures, and maintain a clean work area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1–2 years mechanical assembly experience
• Must pass a mechanical aptitude test
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs

Responsibilities

• Align and fit sub and structural assemblies by installing and connecting parts, fittings, and assemblies
• Install fasteners such as bolts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, helicoils, keenserts, and adhesives
• Use basic hand tools including screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammer, ratchets and sockets
• Set up, operate, and maintain hand drilling and riveting equipment (Cherry & Huck)
• Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures using measuring instruments and blueprint lines
• Cut, trim, file, bend, and verify sizes and tolerances for proper fit
• Read blueprints and specifications to determine layouts and operations
• Perform quality checks to ensure product meets standards
• Identify defects and follow non-conformance procedures
• Rework and repair parts per engineering changes
• Maintain clean, safe work area

SCOPE

Assemble, fit, fasten, and install parts to form subassemblies. Align, fit, assemble, fasten, connect, and install system components of military mechanical/electromechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Align and fit sub and structural assemblies by installing and connecting parts, fittings, and assemblies
• Install fasteners such as bolts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, helicoils, keenserts, and adhesives
• Use basic hand tools, i.e., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammer, ratchets & sockets, ruler, calipers
• Set-up, operate, and maintain a variety of hand drilling and riveting equipment (Cherry & Huck)
• Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points
• Cut, trim, file, bend, and smooth parts, and verify sizes and fitting tolerances in order to ensure proper fit and clearance
• Read and interpret blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, or identities and relationships of parts
• Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards
• Identify defects and take appropriate measures communicate and follow established non-conformance procedures
• Rework and/or repair assembled parts and products according to engineering specification changes
• Perform all work in accordance with highest quality standards and safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe work area

Skills / Requirements

• Maintain awareness and understanding of documents published in the BMS Library
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1-2 years mechanical assembly experience
• Specific technical or vocational training or certification may be required; required to pass a mechanical aptitude test
• Basic reading skills
• Must be able to follow directions
• Basic computer navigation and utilization skills
• Ability to perform work accurately, timely and thoroughly
• Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem, with thinking in such a way as to produce a new idea and concepts
• Detailed-oriented and self-motivation skills
• Must be able to speak/read/write English
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
