Job description

As a Mechanical Assembler, you'll help build industrial equipment that customers count on to keep their operations running. You'll work on-site in Whitewater, Wisconsin, at Coperion FHN, a Hillenbrand company. We design and manufacture feeding and material handling equipment that measures and moves material used in manufacturing. Your work will support safe operations, steady production, and long‑term growth by helping deliver equipment that works the right way, every day.

Location: Whitewater, Wisconsin

Shift: Monday‑Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Schedule: On‑site

What You’ll Do:
  • Assemble mechanical parts and subassemblies by following written instructions, pictures, and basic drawings so equipment is built correctly.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely to put parts together according to work instructions.
  • Line up, fit, and fasten parts in the correct order and direction to meet build requirements.
  • Perform simple quality checks, such as visual inspections and basic function checks, to make sure work meets standards.
  • Record work completed and parts used in required paperwork or systems to support accurate tracking.
  • Identify missing parts, damaged materials, or problems and report them using site procedures.
  • Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe by following safety rules, wearing required protective equipment, and practicing good housekeeping.
Team:
  • You’ll work alongside other manufacturing team members to keep work moving safely, share information, and support a respectful workplace where everyone feels included and can contribute to shared goals.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed:
  • High school diploma, General Educational Development certificate, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, production, or hands‑on mechanical work, or training that prepares you for this type of role.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, pictures, and basic drawings.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools, or willingness to learn.
  • Attention to detail and ability to assemble parts correctly by checking fit and alignment.
  • Ability to notice issues and speak up when something doesn’t look right.
  • Ability to complete basic paperwork or computer entries related to your work.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting parts with or without help.
