Job Description:
Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables. Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools and jigs. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed. Perform full manufacturing acceptance testing. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and sub-assemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee). SCOPE: Assists supervisor in the direction of day-to-day activities of all electronic and mechanical assembly. Under limited supervision. Receives some instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Uses professional concepts to solve a variety of problems. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. IMPACT: Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules. LIAISON: Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information. May serve in a lead role and train others. Normally receives some instruction on routine work, general instruction on new assignments. TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school education or equivalent and 3+ years of related experience.
