Job Description

A Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling components or parts to create finished products. They follow blueprints, work instructions, or diagrams to assemble products using various tools and equipment. Assemblers may work in manufacturing or production environments and may be required to perform quality checks to ensure products meet specifications. They are also responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area and reporting any issues or defects to supervisors. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential skills for an Assembler.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assemble Switchgear units according to blueprints and instructions.
  • Repair identified discrepancies in Switchgear units.
  • Promote a safety culture and attend all safety meetings.
  • Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying potential risks to product quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Switchgear units is a plus.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, including conversions between fractions, decimals, and metric/inch measurements.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of MES (Manufacturing and Execution System).
  • Safety training certificates are advantageous.

Working and Environmental Conditions

Working Conditions

  • Temperature-controlled environment with occasional outdoor activities.
  • Must wear PPE such as safety shoes, hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety harnesses as required.
  • Ability to work from ladders and at heights up to 20 feet using proper equipment and fall protection.

Physical Requirements

  • Maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falls when walking, standing, or climbing.
  • Bend, squat, and extend arms as needed.
  • Stand and walk continuously.
  • Use upper extremities frequently, including working with arms above shoulders.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs as required.
  • Use hand and power tools regularly.
