Job summary

The Mechanical Assembler at PD Instore in New Hope, MN produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies according to assembly instructions, blueprints, and parts lists. You will gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials and prepare work to be accomplished.

You will verify specifications by measuring components, follow safety procedures, and support effective communication across shifts while helping train new staff and contribute to cost-saving ideas.

Qualifications

  • Education: high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1–3 years in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Follow all safety and processing procedures.
  • Enable effective communications between management and employees.
  • Assist in training of new employees and coach existing employees on procedures and use of equipment.
  • Report incidents relating to safety, attendance and performance to Department Manager.
  • Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, sanitize and clean up at shift end.
  • Foster a culture valuing family, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment.

Verifies specifications by measuring completed component


Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees assigned to a designated shift/department


Follow all safety and processing procedures


Enable effective communications between management and employees


Assist in the training of new employees and coach existing employees on proper procedures and proper use of equipment


Report all incidents relating to safety, attendance and poor performance to Department Manager


Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas


Attends required meetings and trainings


Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates


Clean up at end of shift


Fosters a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment


Follows all safety and workplace policies


Competencies and Skills

Operating knowledge of department processing equipment and processes


Experience working with multiple material types (Wood, Metal, Plastic, Laminates, Veneers, Adhesives, Wiring, etc.)


Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and communication skills


Experience using light power tools, hand tools, and tape measures


Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment


Able to read and understand written work instructions


Ability to demonstrate and apply PD’s workplace values


Flexibility to travel between multiple PD locations
