Job summary

SpecSys Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to define build sequences and provide hands-on labor assembling mobile equipment for railway, construction, oil, and mining industries. You will read plans, follow procedures, and ensure assemblies meet specifications.

The role emphasizes accurate work, problem solving, and collaboration with the project team to complete components on schedule. Excellent manual dexterity is required for tubing, drilling, and bolting tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of designing, using, and repairing machines and tools; reading plans and drawings.
• Ability to follow detailed drawings and customer specifications.
• Physically capable of lifting 75 pounds and standing long hours.

Responsibilities

• Assembles mechanical components into controls of moderate complexity following documentation.
• Assembles hydraulic actuators using hand tools; bend tubing, drill and tap.
• Identify assembly sequences to minimize unproductive time.
• Ensure products are built and tested to meet customer requirements.
• Coordinate parts tracking with purchasing/material handling.
• Support project manager to implement design/EC changes in assembly.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE including 4 10-hour shifts and 5 8-hour shifts with flexible start times!

SALARY RANGE: $17.00 to $24.00 per hour

As the Mechanical Assembler, your primary responsibility will be to accurately define appropriate build sequences and provide hands on labor to assemble mobile equipment projects for industries including railway, construction, oil, mining, and more. You will use your detail-oriented skills to take responsibility and see projects through to completion.

What does the Mechanical Assembler is responsible do for SpecSys?

• Assembles mechanical components into controls of moderate complexity by following controlled documentation, standards and specifications
• Assembles hydraulic actuators by hand using hand tools bending tubing, drilling and taping
• Identifies appropriate assembly sequences to minimize unproductive time
• Ensures products are built and tested to meet customer requirements
• Identifies component shortages and coordinate parts tracking with purchasing / material handling department
• Coordinates work load with the assigned project manager to ensure design changes ECO changes are implemented into the overall assembly process
• Provides input into QC process improvements

• Understands and follows work order instructions including sign-off of assembly department dispatches
• Understands and follows existing quality control processes
• Has any combination of education and experience that provides the required skill and knowledge for successful performance
