Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mechanical Apprentice will assist a licensed Plumber in the installation, maintenance, and inspection of plumbing systems and related processes.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend work at assigned locations, including project sites and offices.
  • Work on systems such as sanitary waste, vent, laboratory/process waste, tempered water, potable and non-potable water, and roof drainage.
  • Handle materials including cast iron, PVC, polypropylene, and copper (solder and pro-press).
  • Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipes using hand or power tools.
  • Locate and mark pipe installations and fixtures using measuring tools.
  • Test pipes or fixtures for leaks.
  • Assemble pipe sections and fittings using appropriate methods and tools.
  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, or fixtures.
  • Detect and report faulty operations or defective materials.
  • Supervise helpers or apprentices as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, or specifications.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain quality standards.
  • Participate in site housekeeping.
  • Interact courteously with co-workers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
