Join VIATechnik, the global leader in driving digital transformation and innovation across the built environment. Our 350+ experts around the world partner with the most ambitious owners, builders, and trades to tackle projects that shape skylines, transform infrastructure, and reimagine how the built world works. From pioneering Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) delivery to creating next-generation digital twins, custom software, and AI solutions, we deliver breakthroughs that set new standards in design, construction, and operations on some of the largest and most complex projects in the world.

The Role

As a Shop Drawing Manager, you will support the successful delivery of mechanical and plumbing (M&P) shop and spool drawings across a variety of VDC projects. In this role, you will coordinate with VDC Managers, VDC Project Managers, and clients to gather project work requests, and relay the appropriate instructions to the production team. You will play a key part in guiding, communicating with, and supporting the production team within a matrix-style structure. You will also perform a first-level QA/QC check on drawing outputs and ensure technical clarity and quality. This position requires a strong understanding of M&P systems and construction documents, along with solid organizational, communication, and project management skills.

In this role you will:
  • Serve as the communication bridge between VDC Managers and the production team for M&P shop drawing efforts.
  • Interpret work requests, design documentation, and project details to translate into actionable tasks for the production team.
  • Coordinate workloads and clarify scope, schedule expectations, and delivery requirements.
  • Support production teams through technical guidance and troubleshooting, ensuring modeling and detailing standards are upheld.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of shop drawings prior to delivery to VDC Managers, flagging issues and ensuring accuracy.
  • Support and contribute to process improvements in workflows, documentation, and standards.
  • Attend regular coordination meetings to track progress, share updates, and resolve issues.
  • Document and manage project workflows and deliverable tracking.
  • Assist in onboarding and training of production team members as required.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
Apply if you have:
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in shop drawing production, QA/QC, or digital construction, preferably in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit.
  • Strong understanding of M&P systems, construction documentation, detailing standards, and industry codes (e.g., NBC, ISO, ASME, or project-specific standards).
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage tasks across multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders.
Even better if you have:
  • Experience coordinating across teams in a matrix-style organizational structure.
  • Proficiency with BIM and VDC software platforms, including: Procore, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Experience with formal QA/QC processes for shop drawing or modeling deliverables.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Lean workflows in a construction tech environment.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and dynamic team environment.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Compensation and Featured Benefits:
  • The pay for this position is $70,000 - $90,000, and the role is eligible for bonuses. The actual salary offer may be different as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, location, and experience.
