Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems’ Mechanical Design & Analysis Department in Huntsville invites college students (Sophomore–Grad) to join as Mechanical Analysis Interns for a summer internship. You’ll work hands-on in structural and/or thermal analysis, FEMAP/Ansys modeling, and hand calculations under guidance from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Student must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited program.
• Overall GPA of 3.5 or above required.
• U.S. Citizenship required for DoD environment.
• Willingness to work in-office in the Huntsville, AL area.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering analysis activities for DoD customers using a broad engineering knowledge base.
• Develop structural and/or thermal analysis models using FEMAP (structural) or Ansys (thermal).
• Calculate margins to determine design viability.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to produce solutions for customers.
• Present analysis results to senior engineering staff.
