Job summary

HRB seeks an experienced mechanical engineer to support PMA-226 in advancing F-5N+/F+ aircraft modifications and maintenance programs. You will review complex mechanical designs for structural integrity and airworthiness, collaborating with subject matter experts across Structures, Mechanisms, and Flight Controls.

Requires 10+ years in aircraft modification, DoD MIL-STDs knowledge, and strong communication. U.S.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in modifying military or commercial aircraft, including design and substantiation
  • Experience with FAA or NAVAIR Airworthiness related to structural integrity
  • Knowledge of DoD MIL-STDs and commercial mechanical design standards
  • Familiarity with military or commercial maintenance publications and manuals
  • Strong communication skills and work ethic

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support to F-5 Systems Lead Engineer within PMA-226
  • Review mechanical design, modification and repair of F-5N+/F+ aircraft for structural integrity and airworthiness
  • Support SMEs across Structures, Mechanisms, and Flight Controls domains
  • Coordinate and triage mechanical technical discrepancy requests among PMA, FST, NAWCAD, and contractors
  • Perform in-service tasks related to development, operation, evaluation, and maintenance programs
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with technical products and SOW documentation

Experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in developing modifications to military or commercial aircraft including design and substantiation.
  • Experience in FAA or NAVAIR Airworthiness requirements related to aircraft structural integrity.
  • Knowledge of and experience with DoD (MIL-STDs) and commercial standards in mechanical design
  • Knowledge of and experience with military (or commercial) operational manuals, and maintenance/sustainment technical publications
  • Strong communications skills and work ethic.
Position Description
  • Provides mechanical engineering support to F-5 Systems Lead Engineer within the Adversary and Specialized Aircraft Program Office, PMA-226.
  • Provides senior level review of mechanical design, modification and repair of F-5N+/F+ aircraft and adherence to Structural Integrity and Airworthiness considerations.
  • Supports Subject Matter Experts in developing technical responses for respective organizations and engineering domains including but not limited to; Structures, Mechanisms, and Flight Controls.
  • As directed, coordinates and triages mechanical technical discrepancy requests between the PMA, FST, NAWCAD, and contracted services.
  • Performs various in-service tasks related to the development, operation, evaluation, and improvement of Adversary aircraft, weapon systems supportability and/or maintainability programs.
  • Develops, reviews, analyzes, and maintains familiarity with keytechnical engineering products(including drawings, repair dispositions, and analyzes) as well as programcontractual documents(including Statements of Work [SOW]).
Salary

This is a part time on call position with an estimated hourly rate of $53 to $79 per hour. The rates will be dependent on experience.
