Job summary

The City of Waite Park is seeking a Mechanic to perform highly skilled maintenance and diagnose repairs on a range of municipal vehicles, from small engines to emergency response and heavy equipment. The role focuses on keeping the Public Works Fleet in top operating condition.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and two years of vehicle, equipment and machinery repair experience. A Class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements is required or must be obtained within

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 2 years' experience in vehicle, equipment and machinery repair and maintenance.
• Experience in heavy equipment repair, hydraulics, welding, and minor building maintenance.
• Valid Class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements (must obtain within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance and diagnose repairs on small engines, automobiles, trucks, emergency response vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Maintain, fabricate and weld components for the Public Works Fleet.
• Support upkeep of municipal vehicles and other standard equipment.

Job Summary: The City of Waite Park is accepting applications for the Mechanic position. This position performs highly skilled technical work in mechanical maintenance and diagnosing repairs of the operating small engines, automobiles, trucks, emergency response vehicles, heavy equipment and other standard and special automotive equipment operated by the municipality. This position is responsible for the maintenance, fabricating/welding, and upkeep for all the Public Works Fleet.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and two years’ experience in vehicle, equipment and machinery repair and maintenance operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred candidates would also have experience in heavy equipment repair, hydraulics, welding, and minor building maintenance. Applicants must also possess a valid Class B Commercial Vehicle Driver’s License with tanker and air brake endorsements (must obtain within 6 months of hire.)
