Job summary

Fareva Morton Grove Inc. in Illinois is seeking a trained millwright to analyze, install, and maintain equipment across the facility.

You will build guards, use hand and power tools, and perform welding to support ongoing production of cosmetics and toiletries. The role requires apprenticeship and a licensed journeyman, five years of millwright experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to estimate time and material.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have completed an apprenticeship and be a licensed journeyman or show equivalent training by an accredited institution.
  • Must have five years millwright or facilities maintenance experience prior to employment.
  • Must have a complete knowledge and understanding of basic machine assembly, power transmission, and actuating devices.
  • Must familiarize oneself with theory and actual sequence of operation of all machines and mechanical devices used throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Erects, installs, or relocates mechanical equipment in the facility as directed.
  • Fabricates and installs guards and safety devices in all departments to protect operating personnel.
  • Uses hand and power tools for minor fabrication of repair parts, working from sketches, blueprints, and verbal instructions.
  • Fabricates, assembles and fits all parts necessary for given situation; welds (TIG/ARC) and brazes as required.
  • Analyses and repairs incorrect mechanical operation of equipment across all departments, including conveyors.
  • Maintains records of time and material charged to each job and ensures accurate estimation of materials.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all mechanical equipment and forklifts; follows established procedures.
  • Adheres to GMPs, FDA procedures, and safety standards; performs duties safely and environmentally responsibly.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:Analyze, troubleshoot, and correct mechanical failures and inefficient operations of devices and machines used in all departments of the facility. Strives for continuous improvement in service, quality, safety, and cost. Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, FDA drug product manufacturing procedures and Fareva’s quality and safety standards.Job Responsibilities:Erects, installs, or relocates new and existing mechanical equipment in the facility as directed.Fabricates and installs guards and safety devices in all departments to protect operating personnel.Uses hand and power tools for minor fabrication of repair parts, working from sketches, blueprints, and verbal instructions.Fabricates, assembles and fits all parts necessary for given situation. Must be proficient in welding, tig and arc, burning and brazing.Analyzes and repairs incorrect mechanical operation of equipment used in all departments of the facility, including conveyors and related equipment.Reports to supervisor any abnormal or unsafe conditions observed throughout the facility. Suggests modifications and improvements to equipment and implements changes when directed.Draws from maintenance store all parts, tools and material necessary to carry out any job assignment, giving Storekeeper accurate description, count and job number for such material.Keeps accurate record of time and material chargeable to each separate job.Carries out preventive maintenance programs on all mechanical equipment and fork trucks, working from established procedures.Performs all tasks in a safe and environmentally sound manner. All work performed must meet all applicable federal, state, and local mandates as well as comply with all Company rules and policies.Responsible for design, fabrication, and repair of machinery and equipment.Responsible for accurate estimation of time and material necessary for work, as well as accurate recordkeeping.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge/Skills/Education/Experience:High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.Must have completed an apprenticeship and be a licensed journeyman or show equivalent training by an accredited institution.Must have five years millwright or facilities maintenance experience prior to employment with Avon, excluding apprentice training.Must have a complete knowledge and understanding of basic machine assembly, power transmission, and actuating devicesMust familiarize oneself with theory and actual sequence of operation of all machines and mechanical devices used throughout the facilityMust gain the knowledge of chemical properties of ingredients and products handled in machines and mechanical devices used in the facilityMust be able to quickly and accurately estimate time required to make temporary repairs versus permanent repairs.Must be able to make simple sketches.Experience with product delivery pumps is desirable.Must be able to use and read precisions measuring instruments.Must have a working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and related equipmentStrong verbal communication skills.Ability to handle pressure and demonstrate flexibility.Able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and take initiative on specific issues.Ability to prioritize handling of situations.Must have a positive attitude.Physical Demands:Frequently on feet for extended periods of time.Repetitive hand and wrist movement.Must lift heavy materials (0-80 lbs.) often to change motors, belts, gearboxes, etc.Reaching, stretching, awkward positions, climbing.Must work in very close places at times that can cause fatigue.Frequent use of hand and power tools.Must be able to perform duties in a variety of physical positions (i.e. kneeling, reaching, climbing, etc).Work Environment:Must follow all GMP’s as required.Must comply with all PPE requirements.Work in packaging environment producing cosmetics, fragrances and toiletries.Contact with sanitizing agents, hot water, and bleach.Exposure to odors, noise, temperature fluctuations and fork lift traffic.Additional Requirements:Must be able to work overtime as needed.Must be able to work flexible work hours depending on business need.Compensation and Benefits:Compensation is commensurate with experience401-k 4.5% company match and immediate vestingCompany paid Short Term Disability and Life & AD&D Insurances
