Fareva in Morton Grove, IL is hiring a Packaging Equipment Technician to set up, adjust, and troubleshoot lines. You will perform routine maintenance, assist in major overhauls, and work with packaging teams to meet production schedules while adhering to GMP, safety, and quality standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of related experience or technical training, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to learn in a fast-paced setting.

Job description

Job Details: Location: Morton Grove, IL 60053. Education Level: 2 Year Degree. Salary Range: $33.00 – $39.00 hourly. Job Shift: Any.

POSITION SUMMARY

Sets‑up, adjusts, and troubleshoots Packaging equipment. Completes minor repair, preventative maintenance and assists in major overhaul on all Packaging equipment. Works with other Packaging associates in a team environment to execute the schedule. Communicates with Warehouse, Processing, Shop, and other support areas. Strives for continuous improvement in service, quality, safety, and cost. Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, FDA drug product manufacturing procedures and Fareva’s quality and safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Efficiently completes all set‑ups and troubleshoots assigned lines with assistance from Packaging Mechanics.
  • Keeps change parts organized and in good repair. Advises when parts are missing or damaged to maintenance supervisor.
  • Performs routine lubrication and inspection of machines during changeovers.
  • Keeps lines operating properly during the course of production runs.
  • Assists Packaging machine operators and Supervisor with machinery‑related problems encountered during production runs.
  • Repairs change parts as prescribed.
  • Looks for opportunities to improve standard line speed and crews and monitors actual line speeds/crews.
  • Understands and implements fill/torque control requirement. Uses information to minimize waste and spoilage.
  • Responsible for the daily execution of schedule.
  • Handles collection and disposal of hazardous products, ethanol and sanitizing agent generated by Packaging in accordance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows safety policies and maintains good housekeeping in work area.
  • Completes asbestos awareness training, recognizes and informs Supervisor of asbestos hazards (ie floor tile drilling) to ensure sampling, appropriate precautions, and/or abatement where required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Education/Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • MUST have minimum one year of related experience or technical training certificate.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • MUST demonstrate aptitude in the set‑up, troubleshooting, and maintenance of packaging equipment.
  • MUST be able to learn in a fast‑paced industrial setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to handle pressure and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and take initiative on specific issues.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to assist in complex instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with more complex problems involving some abstract thinking, though may require supervision. Requires some direction when solving simple problems.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions in written and oral format from management and associates.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals with minimal supervisor explanation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Frequently on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movement.
  • Able to frequently maneuver parts weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a variety of physical positions (i.e., kneeling, reaching, climbing, etc).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must follow all GMP’s as required.
  • Must comply with all PPE requirements.
  • Work in packaging environment producing cosmetics, fragrances and toiletries.
  • Contact with sanitizing agents, hot water, and bleach.
  • Exposure to odors, noise, temperature fluctuations and forklift traffic.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours depending on business need.
