Job summary

American Commercial Barge Line in St. Louis, MO is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient coal transfer through equipment maintenance and operation resources.

The candidate will perform preventive maintenance, read blueprints, weld, and operate conveyors and rail car equipment as part of the transfer process. This is a full-time position with rotating shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2–5 years' experience in construction or industrial maintenance.
• Welding ability is required.
• Must pass manlift safety/operation requirements.
• Able to climb heights and work in confined spaces.
• Willing to work rotating shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment as necessary.
• Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for equipment.
• Complete machine work per blueprints and manufacturer specifications.
• Read and understand blueprints and sketches.
• Inspect machines for malfunctions by visual and audio checks.
• Operate conveyors and heavy equipment to repair and check operation.
• Climb rail car ladders to access intermodal containers during transfer.
• Use power and hand tools to perform job tasks.
• Maintain written records of work performed.
• Complete welding repairs to ABS standards.

ACBL is currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of the coal transfer process. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing essential functions related to equipment maintenance and operation.

What you will be doing... Your IMPACT

Essential Duties/Functions:

• Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment as necessary.
• Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for new and existing equipment.
• Complete machine work as indicated on job blueprints and manufacturer specifications manuals.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and sketches.
• Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual and sound inspections.
• Operate conveyor systems, mobile equipment, which includes, backhoes, bulldozers, and rubber-tired bucket loaders to repair to check for proper operation and/or adjustment.
• Climb up & down rail car ladders to lock & unlock intermodal containers through the transfer process.
• Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions.
• Complete written record of work performed.
• Complete welding repairs to ABS standard.

What we are looking for...

You will need to have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-5 years’ experience in a construction, industrial maintenance operations.
• The ability to weld is required.
• Must pass and maintain safety/operation requirements of manlift operation.
• Must be able to climb heights and work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to a rotating shift, including weekends.
