Job summary

American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure safe, efficient, and timely maintenance of coal transfer equipment. You will perform maintenance, install and test machinery, and read blueprints to ensure proper operation.

The role requires welding ability, reading plans, and the ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, in a dynamic inland river transportation environment in St. Louis, MO.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2-5 years' experience in construction or industrial maintenance operations.
• Welding ability is required.
• Must pass and maintain safety/operation requirements for manlift operation.
• Must be able to climb heights and work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work a rotating shift, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment as necessary.
• Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance for new and existing equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints and manufacturer specifications manuals.
• Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions by visual and audible checks.
• Operate conveyor systems and mobile equipment to repair and check operation.
• Clamp and lock intermodal containers on transfer processes and weld repairs to ABS standard.

ACBL is currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely execution of the coal transfer process. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing essential functions related to equipment maintenance and operation.

What you will be doing... YOUR IMPACT

Essential Duties/Functions:

• Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment as necessary.
• Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for new and existing equipment.
• Complete machine work as indicated on job blueprints and manufacturer specifications manuals.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and sketches.
• Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual and sound inspections.
• Operate conveyor systems, mobile equipment, which includes, backhoes, bulldozers, and rubber-tired bucket loaders to repair to check for proper operation and/or adjustment.
• Climb up & down rail car ladders to lock & unlock intermodal containers through the transfer process.
• Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions.
• Complete written record of work performed.
• Complete welding repairs to ABS standard.
