Job summary

Aleut Ventures LLC on Adak Island seeks a Mechanic / Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair hotel and island facilities. You will service engines, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, ensuring safety and reliability for guests and staff.

The role is rotational: two weeks on, two weeks off, with potential longer shifts. Requires a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of related experience, and an Alaska driver’s license; TWIC is required within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• At least two (2) years of related experience.
• Must possess and maintain Alaska drivers license.
• Must obtain the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 6 months of hire date.
• Five (5) years of progressive experience as a diesel mechanic OR related mix of experience/education (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide continued maintenance support to Adak Inn Hotel ensuring housing units are functional and safe.
• Perform general plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs to facility equipment and systems.
• Inspect equipment and systems to identify problems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to keep plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems operational.
• Maintain and repair vehicles on an as-needed basis.
• Troubleshoot engine performance and create repair estimates.
• Perform annual and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Follow safety guidelines and company procedures.

MECHANIC / MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Job Summary:

Responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines, and mechanical systems on Adak Island. The position is also responsible for the ongoing maintenance on the island for various locations, such as the Adak Inn Hotel. Must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. This is a rotational two (2) weeks on / two (2) weeks off position with the flexibility to work longer shifts if necessary.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide continued maintenance support to the Adak Inn Hotel to ensure housing units are functional and safe for hotel guests and workers.
• Perform general plumbing, electrical, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) repairs to the facility’s equipment and systems.
• Inspect equipment and systems to identify problems or issues.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure that plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems continue operating properly.
• Maintain and repair vehicles on an as needed basis.
• Build and assemble machines according to requirements.
• Troubleshoot engine performance problems, makes recommendations for repair and creates estimates based on proper diagnose, repair, or replace.
• Conduct annual and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems.
• Clean and apply lubricant to machinery components as needed.
• Follow terminal policies and procedures all job scope specific health, environment, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to perform the essential functions in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to pass a hazmat physical.
• Ability to perform mechanical and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
• Knowledge of the latest vehicle diagnostic equipment.
• Skill in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Skill in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster positive relationships.

Housing & Transportation

• Housing will be provided by AV, food and other necessities will be the employee’s responsibility.
• Round trip airfare will be provided from Anchorage to Adak, Alaska.
• Company vehicle will be provided while on location.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• At least two (2) years of related experience.
• Must possess and maintain Alaska drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressive experience as a diesel mechanic OR any combination of experience, education and training.

Minimum Certifications

• Must obtain the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 6 months of hire date.
