Job summary

Sun Chemical is seeking a skilled maintenance professional to sustain plant machinery and infrastructure for a 24/7 operation. You will perform preventive and emergency tasks, rebuild pumps and gear boxes, fabricate sheet metal, weld where needed, and support refrigeration systems.

Must pass safety procedures, respirator requirements, and OSHA testing. Qualifications include a High School Diploma and 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; pre-employment screening may be used.
• 3–5 years of maintenance experience with industrial machinery, mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
• Experience with pumps, piping and gear box rebuilds; respirator qualification per OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform millwright tasks: install, maintain, repair, and refit stationary industrial machinery per specs.
• Handle pumps, piping, and gear box rebuilds; sheet metal fabrication and welding per requirements.
• Perform plumbing and pipefitting, valve installation, gasketing per design specs.
• Maintain refrigeration systems including ammonia compressors and ice delivery systems.
• Execute preventative maintenance: lubrication, inspections, functional checks and adjustments.
• Work on steam systems, boilers, steam traps, piping and condensate pumps.
• Lift, push, pull at least 50 pounds; follow safety procedures and respirator requirements.
• Comply with OSHA fit testing and medical clearance for respirator use.
• Support 12-hour shift rotations and 4 days on/4 days off or 4 10-hour days schedules.

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Will perform a variety of preventive, routine and emergency tasks for the upkeep and sustaining of plant machinery and infrastructure used to produce high performance pigments. Support production facility that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week to meet customer demands.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Complete millwright activities to include the construction, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting repair and refitting of stationary industrial machinery, mechanical and hydraulic equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.
• Experience with pumps, piping and gear box rebuilds
• Sheet metal and construction fabrication work to include the cutting, welding and forming of sheet metal, metal bar and stock to design requirements and specifications.
• Complete plumbing and pipefitting to include the cutting and welding of pipe, installation of valving and gasketing to design requirements and specifications.
• Refrigeration maintenance activities include the operation, installation, maintenance troubleshooting repair and refitting of ammonia compressors and ice making and delivery system.
• Complete preventative maintenance activities to include but not limited to lubrication, visual inspection, and functional checks; perform repairs and adjustments to equipment.
• Work on steam systems including operation of the site boilers, troubleshooting of and replacement of steam traps, steam pipe work, condensate pumps and associated systems.
• Be able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
• Adhere to all safety and work procedures.
• Respirator qualified.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma/equivalent preferred or pass a pre-employment screening assessment.
• May be required to pass written and hands‑on testing.
• 3 – 5 years’ maintenance experience with industrial machinery, mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
• Experience with pumps, piping and gear box rebuilds .
• Respirator qualification required; must meet OSHA fit testing and medical clearance requirements.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• Full-time position
• May be required to work 12-hour day or night shift, 4 days on/4 days off OR 1st shift position, 4 10-hour days
