Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. in the San Diego area is seeking a Technician 1 to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a fleet including aerial platforms, pumps, HVAC and other equipment.

The role offers hands-on training, opportunities to develop skills across diesel and hydraulic systems, and a collaborative, safety-driven team. Base pay ranges from $33.80 to $38.76 per hour, with comprehensive benefits and growth potential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; trade school training is a plus.
• 1–3 years of technician experience with diesel equipment or heavy construction gear.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Bilingual ability may be required depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
• Work on a variety of makes, models and equipment.
• Contribute to a safety‑focused, team environment in a fast-paced setting.

Job Description Summary

Technician 1

Technician role performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs on equipment to avoid downtime. Fleet includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools and equipment; specialty lines may include large‑scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, oil/gas equipment.

Responsibilities

• Build skills by working on a variety of makes, models & equipment
• Develop new skills for a career track in service or operation management
• Work with an incredible team of people in a safety‑focused environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired
• 1–3 years of Technician experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment or specialty lines equipment (large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC or Oil & Gas equipment)
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting fundamentals
• Knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting fundamentals
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Bilingual (Spanish or Other) may be required based on location needs

Physical Demands

The role requires bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors as required.
