General Summary of Position

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for a Mechanic Journeyman-Plumber to join our team at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital! The Mechanic Journeyman will perform a variety of general Plumbing and preventative maintenance on hospital facilities and equipment as well as some related new construction and renovation work.

Primary Duties:

1. Diagnoses, repairs, and installs using blueprints, codes, specifications, and other industry standards. Ensures that time and material records of self and others within assigned team are complete, accurate, and submitted to the supervisor/coordinator at the end of each shift. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance. Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and failures, determines necessary repairs to equipment, and initiates work orders.
2. Corrects leaks, sewage stoppages, and equipment malfunction. Cuts, bends, threads pipes; fits threaded pipes with adjoining pipe assemblies.
3. Installs and repairs medical gas lines in patient rooms and operating rooms.
4. Maintains appropriate inventory of replacement parts and supplies. Maintains, repairs, and installs plumbing systems components and piping including faucets, valves, converters, traps, backflow preventers, etc. Performs asbestos removal. Repairs and overhauls pumps and heat exchangers; removes and replaces coils; replaces valves and associated equipment on steam systems or boilers.
5. Installs, renovates, and reconfigures systems to facilitate hospital renovation and equipment replacement projects.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Completion of acceptable training.
3. Demonstrated competency in broad areas.
4. 3-4 years related experience.
5. Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair.
6. CFC universal certification.
7. Licensed Plumber (Journeyman Plumbing license required).
8. Master Plumber license preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $28.2 - $47.3.
