The Mechanic Intern will work closely with experienced mechanics to gain practical, on-the-job experience in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with mechanics to keep all equipment available by completing preventive maintenance schedules.
- Assist in engine repairs, run diagnostic tests, locate problem sources, and remove and replace faulty parts.
- Report and document all repairs and maintenance in the work order software system.
- Learn and assist in correcting equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
Qualifications
- Pursuing an associate’s degree in diesel mechanics or a related field.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Detail-oriented, self‑motivated, and able to work independently.
- Propose solutions to address equipment issues, improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and address safety issues.
- Ability to learn new skills.
- Understanding of an array of tools and technical equipment.
- Ability to travel up to 70%.
