Job summary

Job description

We are seeking a Mechanic Intern to join our Equipment team. In this role, you will gain invaluable real-world experience working alongside experienced mechanics and technicians, learning to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers. This program is designed to provide students with hands‑on exposure to equipment maintenance operations, helping you build a strong technical foundation for a future career in the construction and equipment industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance Support: Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repair work on company equipment, including heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers.
  • Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Observe and participate in diagnosing equipment issues, learning to identify problems and develop solutions under the guidance of experienced staff.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Help perform preventative maintenance tasks to support optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Documentation: Assist in maintaining equipment-related reports, maintenance logs, and metrics.
  • Compliance & Safety: Learn and follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements related to equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with mechanics, equipment managers, and field staff to support equipment division goals.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in identifying opportunities to improve maintenance and repair processes.
Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a relevant degree or technical program (Diesel/Heavy Equipment Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Construction Management, or related field), or high school diploma/equivalent with strong interest in the field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to a fast‑paced, hands‑on setting.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor/field and shop environments.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Duration:

Typically May–August
