MECHANIC II - Pct. 3 Facilities Maintenance

Summary: Performs advanced mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance on gasoline, propane, and diesel engines and heavy-duty off-road construction equipment. As a senior mechanic, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs trucks and heavy off-road equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Refuel and maintain construction equipment at project sites.
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct safety inspections.
• Use computerized diagnostic tools to evaluate and repair vehicles.
• Supervise and instruct other mechanics or helpers.
• Test equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Transport equipment if needed.
• Make road calls and field repairs.
• Order parts and supplies.
• Design and build custom projects for vehicles and equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED; four years of related experience may substitute.
• Three years of full-time mechanic experience; diesel and heavy truck experience preferred.
• Trade school certification may substitute for one year of experience.
• Valid Class C driver license required; Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements required within 8 months.
• Additional certifications (A/C, ASE, Vehicle Inspection, Welding, CAN, etc.) preferred.
• Must be able to repair complex off-road equipment.

Additional Notes: The selected candidate must pass a physical and drug test. Provide proof of education if hired. Background checks will be conducted.
