Job summary

Highway Transport, a tanker trucking company, seeks an entry-level Mechanic I in Chattanooga, TN. You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers, assist with diagnostics, and ensure compliance with DOT standards while maintaining safety and equipment readiness.

Responsibilities include brake and air system service, welding, and proper documentation. Candidates should have basic tools and be able to work various shifts; company benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Basic troubleshooting and repair skills such as electrical, suspension, tank repairs (trailer mechanic) or HVAC (tractor mechanic).
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance
• Assist other technicians with tractor and trailer repairs
• DOT inspections
• Brake inspections and repairs
• Service air systems and brakes
• Entry level diagnostics and repairs related to any system of the assigned equipment
• Learn troubleshooting procedures and failure analysis
• Lift and install heavy components
• Ensure parts and labor are accurately charged
• Maintain a safe work environment
• Welding and light fabricating
• Ensure equipment licensing and roadworthiness
• Own personal tools
• Other duties as assigned
