Job summary

Desert Mountain Club is seeking an experienced Golf Course Mechanic to maintain and repair mowers, utility vehicles, trucks, tractors, and related equipment on our private North Scottsdale courses. You will work closely with the Superintendent to plan repairs and keep equipment ready for daily play.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of head or assistant golf course mechanic experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to use a wide range of repair tools on diverse machines.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as head or assistant golf course mechanic or related mechanical work.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of equipment.
• Strong teamwork and communication with course staff.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and equipment systems.
• Repair engine/drive train assemblies, starters, cutting units, tires, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Adjust, sharpen, and backlap reel mowers for proper height-of-cut.
• Perform occasional welding, machining, bodywork, and painting.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe mechanical condition of all mowers, utility vehicles, trucks and tractors, and mechanical equipment. Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Mechanic III to plan and coordinate repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure it’s available for daily use on the golf course. You will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who strives for excellence with a great attitude and strong work ethic. At least 3 years of well-rounded experience as head golf course mechanic, assistant golf course mechanic, and/or related mechanical experience and skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs are required.

JOB DETAILS

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and equipment systems. This includes, but is not limited to, operator and equipment safety switch operation, engine tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, tire repair. Ensure safe and proper operation of hydraulic, brake, fuel, steering, electrical, and cooling systems.
• Repair engine/drive train assemblies, starters, cutting units, roller bearings and seals, carburetors, fuel pumps, hydraulic motors, and hoses. Install batteries, tires, lights, and glass.
• Adjust, sharpen, and backlap reel mowers to ensure proper reel-to-bed knife adjustment and proper height-of-cut on all cutting units.
• Perform occasional welding, machining, bodywork, and painting.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
