Job summary

Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona is seeking an experienced Mechanic to ensure the safe mechanical condition of mowers, utility vehicles, trucks and tractors. You will coordinate repairs with the Golf Course Superintendent and maintain equipment for daily golf operations.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience as a golf course mechanic and is skilled with a wide range of repair tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of well‑rounded experience as head golf course mechanic, assistant golf course mechanic, or related mechanical experience.
• Skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and performing mechanical repairs.
• Team player with a strong work ethic and excellent attitude.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and equipment systems on golf course machinery.
• Repair engine and drive train components, hydraulics, wiring, and braking systems; install batteries, tires, lights and blades as needed.
• Adjust and sharpen reel mowers; backlap and set height-of-cut on cutting units.
• Perform occasional welding, machining, bodywork, and painting; assist with other duties as assigned.

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe mechanical condition of all mowers, utility vehicles, trucks and tractors, and mechanical equipment. Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Mechanic III to plan and coordinate repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure it’s available for daily use on the golf course. You will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who strives for excellence with a great attitude and strong work ethic. At least 3 years of well-rounded experience as head golf course mechanic, assistant golf course mechanic, and/or related mechanical experience and skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs are required.

JOB DETAILS

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and equipment systems. This includes, but is not limited to, operator and equipment safety switch operation, engine tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, tire repair. Ensure safe and proper operation of hydraulic, brake, fuel, steering, electrical, and cooling systems.
• Repair engine/drive train assemblies, starters, cutting units, roller bearings and seals, carburetors, fuel pumps, hydraulic motors, and hoses. Install batteries, tires, lights, and glass.
• Adjust, sharpen, and backlap reel mowers to ensure proper reel-to-bed knife adjustment and proper height-of-cut on all cutting units.
• Perform occasional welding, machining, bodywork, and painting.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
