Evers & Sons Inc. is hiring a Mechanic Helper to join our skilled team in the Caldwell, TX area. You will assist mechanics with maintenance, tune-ups, and basic repairs, while keeping work areas clean and safe.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma and up to 1 year of experience.
• Basic math skills to complete tasks accurately.
• Knowledge of basic tools and operation of cordless tools.
• English reading/writing required; Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and in working order.
• Notify supervisor of safety hazards promptly.
• Operate hand and power tools for a variety of tasks.
• Assist mechanics and other craft workers as needed.
• Measure and layout openings for construction work.
• Prepare sites, dig trenches, and level earth as required.
• Assist with maintenance like tune-ups and oil changes.
• Help with electrical tasks such as replacing batteries and lights.
• Test drives to ensure repairs are complete; document issues.
• Update maintenance logs and inventory of parts.

Prequalification's

• A GED and/or high school diploma and/or 1 years' experience

Required Experience

• Must be able to use addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and other basic math skills to accurately complete tasks
• Must be knowledgeable of basic tools and able to operate basic powers tools such as; cordless drills/drivers, jigsaws, table saws, sanders, grinders, air compressors, tape measures, etc.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Ability to read, write and speak Spanish is a plus

Essential Functions

• Must keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and in working condition
• Notify supervisor and address potential safety hazards in a timely fashion
• Operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, and a variety of other equipment and instruments
• Assist other craft workers in doing their job functions
• Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed
• Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, or compact and level earth using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes
• Helps mechanic perform maintenance and repairs such as tune-ups and oil changes, checks tire and brakes, replaces spark plugs and engages in other similar tasks
• Assists mechanic with electrical systems such as replacing batteries, starters, and lights
• Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are completed property
• Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper location
• Maintains inventory of replacement parts and equipment
• Inspects tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order
• Updates maintenance and repair logs for vehicles
• Follow all Company policies and procedures and obtain certifications at Company/Client request, including but not limited to, BBP, Onsite Orientations, First Aid, CPR, Annual OSHA Training, PEC, H2S
