Iowa Department of Transportation seeks a skilled Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems on trucks and heavy equipment. You will use computer-based tools and maintenance software and perform preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities include documenting repairs, managing service records, and operating snow-removal equipment during winter to keep roadways safe. CDL with endorsements is required within 5 months of hire.

Qualifikationen

• Three years of full-time work experience in automotive or heavy equipment mechanic work.
• Total of three years of education and/or full-time experience with 30 semester hours equaling one year of experience.
• Must obtain and maintain required CDL endorsements within six months of hire.

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical on trucks and heavy equipment.
• Use computer-based diagnostic tools and maintenance software to document repairs.
• Perform proactive preventative maintenance on snowplows and other heavy vehicles.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and identify root causes to minimize downtime.
