Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanic experience.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, lifting and working with tools and machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on dump trucks, service trucks, and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using testing equipment, gauges, and diagnostic tools.
  • Repair and rebuild gas and diesel engines.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical components.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance including oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
  • Adjust and repair brakes, align wheels, and reassemble equipment as needed.
  • Operate equipment on a temporary basis for troubleshooting and repair verification.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, hydraulic jacks, and hoists safely and effectively.
  • Complete written and verbal reports regarding inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and work cooperatively with team members.

Mechanic - Dump Truck & Heavy Equipment

Location: Roanoke, VA

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Mechanic to perform maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative service on dump trucks, service trucks, and heavy equipment. This role requires working independently to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair gas and diesel-powered equipment while ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Compensation

$24.00 - $28.00 per hour
