Job Description

As a mechanic, your focus will be to ensure that all equipment and vehicles are ready and working as needed through proper completion of repairs and maintenance. You’ll accomplish this by communicating and coordinating major repairs and maintenance with Managers, as well as listening to specialists and reading Vehicle Inspection Reports and prioritizing your work. You’ll be responsible for ordering and receiving parts and supplies, as well as the proper completion of paperwork for the office and vendors. Whenever possible, you’ll train field specialists on equipment maintenance and vehicle operations. You’ll do it all while maintaining a safe and orderly work environment in the Shop and in the Yard. This position also involves working with the tree crews on clients' properties, providing assistance such as tree trimming, removal, assisting climbers with ropes, taking brush to the woodchipper, and operating the stump grinder.

What a day is like:

Your day will involve ensuring equipment and vehicles are maintained, coordinating repairs with Managers, listening to specialists, reading Vehicle Inspection Reports, and prioritizing tasks. You’ll handle ordering parts, completing paperwork, and training field staff on equipment and vehicle maintenance. Additionally, you’ll perform all aspects of tree care, including pruning, removals, and cable bracing, while maintaining safety standards and providing excellent service to clients.

What kind of person are we looking for? Someone with:

  • A desire for job stability, security, and quality work—pride in maintaining the fleet and equipment.
  • Experience in small engine repair, two-stroke engine repair, and diesel engine maintenance.
  • Experience operating aerial lifts (bucket trucks), spray equipment, tanks, and pumps.
  • Your own basic tools for engine repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to read manuals, diagnostic charts, and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Proper pruning practices and knowledge of tree and shrub species.
  • Experience with tree care safety standards.
  • Valid Driver’s license and CDL; ASE certification is a plus.
  • Authorization to work legally in the U.S.
