Position Description

We are immediately hiring a permanent, full-time, experienced mid-level diesel technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Indianapolis, Indiana.

  • Hourly pay: $27.00 per hour
  • Certification bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
  • Hours: First shift 9:30 am – 6:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake, and tire work
  • Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee, you must:
    • Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
    • Pass Ryder drug test
    • Pass DOT physical
    • Pass Ryder road test
    • Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from the last 3 years

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using diagnostic tools
  • Identify root causes and perform necessary repairs
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
  • Follow all safety, DOT, and corporate compliance guidelines
  • Support operations as needed, including service island duties
