Gulf Stream Marine, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic Maintenance Specialist to perform advanced maintenance and diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and rigging systems. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of mechanical, electrical, or crane maintenance experience is expected.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
  • Knowledge of rigging gear and safe handling practices.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurability standards.
  • TWIC card required or ability to obtain.
  • English reading, writing and speaking required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced inspections and diagnostics on mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, brakes, hubs, drive, and steer assemblies.
  • Plan and execute complex repairs, including part identification and restoration to OEM specifications.
  • Operate and test repaired equipment to confirm compliance with standards.
  • Complete thorough documentation for all work orders and maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot across mechanical, electrical, PLC, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and determine root causes; recommend improvements.
  • Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics; assist with crane maintenance and major repairs; use diagnostic tools and software.
  • Inspect rigging gear for wear, coordinate major repairs, ensure proper storage and inventory management.
  • Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 mechanics in troubleshooting and complex repairs; support training of junior staff.

  • Gear Management:
    • Inspect rigging gear (slings, shackles, straps, chains, wires, cables) for wear and compliance.
    • Perform minor repairs and adjustments; coordinate major repairs with maintenance.
    • Ensure gear is properly stored, organized, and available for operational use.
    • Assign tools and gear to crews and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Leadership & Development:
    • Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 mechanics in troubleshooting and complex repairs.
    • Share best practices and assist in training junior team members.
    • Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams regarding equipment status.
