Job summary

Drexel University is seeking a Mechanic Class A - Residence Halls to provide maintenance services across university housing facilities. The role focuses on plumbing, general repairs, and safety-compliant repairs in residence hall environments.

Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED, at least four years of relevant experience, and a valid driver's license. This is a full-time union position with compensation aligned to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, repairing, and installing plumbing fixtures and hardware (faucets, drains, showers, sinks, valves, piping).
• Performing general repair tasks (ceiling repair, door hardware, lamp replacement, light fixture repair).
• Clearing and unclogging drains and repairing leaks.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical plans and prints.
• Completing daily work orders with minimal supervision.
• Working at heights greater than 10 feet from ladders, scaffold, and lift equipment.
• Wearing respiratory protective equipment (annual fit test required).
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Mechanic Class A - Residence Halls will be responsible for maintenance services in the university residence halls.

Essential Functions

• Maintaining, repairing, and installing plumbing fixtures and hardware, such as faucets, drains, showers, manual and automatic flushometers, sinks, water closets, urinals, valves, and piping.
• Performing general repair tasks, including ceiling repair, door repair, installing hardware, lamp replacement, and light fixture repair.
• Clearing and unclogging drains and repairing leaks.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical plans and prints.
• Completing daily work order assignments under minimum supervision.
• Working at heights greater than 10 feet from ladders, scaffold, and lift equipment.
• Wearing respiratory protective equipment (annual pulmonary fit test required).
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands

• Typically standing, walking.
• Typically bending, crouching, stooping.
• Lifting demands > 50 lbs.
