We are looking for a C-Level Technician who wants to learn the trade, earn certifications, and grow into a B and eventually A Technician with us.
Position Summary
The C Technician performs preventive maintenance and basic repairs on our collection fleet and support equipment under the direction of the Shop Foreman and senior technicians. This is a hands-on entry point into heavy truck maintenance — we provide the training path, tools guidance, and mentorship to move you up.
What You'll Do
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) services: oil and filter changes, chassis lubrication, fluid level checks, air filter and fuel filter replacement
- Inspect and service brake systems, including air brake adjustments and lining measurements
- Mount, dismount, repair, and rotate tires; check and correct inflation pressures
- Replace hydraulic hoses, fittings, and cylinders on packers, roll-off hoists, and grapple arms
- Perform basic 12V/24V electrical diagnostics — lights, batteries, starters, alternators, wiring repairs
- Assist senior technicians with engine, transmission, differential, and hydraulic system repairs
- Support annual DOT inspections and document all work accurately in the fleet maintenance software
- Respond to road calls and assist with jump starts, tire changes, and minor field repairs as assigned
- Perform basic welding and fabrication repairs on truck bodies, containers, and compactors
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies
- Properly handle and dispose of waste oil, coolant, batteries, and other regulated materials
Equipment You'll Work On
Front loaders, rear loaders, automated side loaders, roll-off trucks, grapple trucks, tractor-trailers and walking floor trailers, plus support equipment including wheel loaders, excavators, skid steers, and stationary compactors.
What You Need
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- 0–2 years of automotive, diesel, agricultural, or heavy equipment maintenance experience (technical school or military experience counts)
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record
- Own set of basic hand tools
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and DOT physical
- Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as fleet demands require
Preferred
- CDL Class B with air brake endorsement, or willingness to obtain
- ASE certifications (T-series), or willingness to test within 12 months
- Experience with air brakes, hydraulic systems, and Allison automatic transmissions
- Basic MIG welding and torch cutting skills
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach overhead throughout the shift
- Work in and around trucks, including climbing in and out of cabs and under chassis
- Work in a shop environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, grease, and typical waste industry odors
