Job summary

The League of Minnesota Cities is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician I to perform skilled maintenance and repair of heavy equipment. You will inspect machines for maintenance needs, plan appropriate work, and operate the needed tools and equipment to keep fleet assets in good working order.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, Minnesota Class A CDL with six-months to obtain, and DOT Vehicle Inspector and EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery certifications or timelines

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must hold a Minnesota Class A CDL or obtain within six months of employment, costs covered.
• Must hold DOT Vehicle Inspector Certification or obtain within nine months, costs covered.
• Must hold EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery Certification or obtain within nine months, costs covered.
• Prefer nine-month vo-tech training certificate in automotive/heavy equipment/small engine repair.
• Preference for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.

Summary

Responsibilities may include: inspecting machines for maintenance needs; determining and conducting appropriate maintenance, repair or replacement work; and operating applicable equipment and tools.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.


• Valid Minnesota Class A Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain within six months of employment. All associated costs will be covered.


• Valid DOT Vehicle Inspector Certifications or ability to obtain within nine months of employment. All associated costs will be covered.


• Valid EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification or ability to obtain within nine months of employment (ADE, MACS or equivalent). All associated costs will be covered.

Desirable Requirements

• Nine-month vo-tech training certificate in automotive, heavy equipment and/or small engine repair.


• Automotive Service of Excellence (ASE) Certification.
