To help achieve this goal and support our growth, we are adding a Mechanic Assistant.
This position supports our fleet and equipment mechanics with vehicle and equipment maintenance, inspections, repairs, and servicing.
The Mechanic Assistant will work under the supervision of experienced mechanics while gaining hands‑on experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
What You'll Do
- Assist mechanics with preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles.
- Perform routine maintenance, vehicle servicing, tire checks, and fluid replacements
- Assist with vehicle inspections and safety checks.
- Clean, inspect, and prepare vehicles and equipment for servicing and repairs.
- Assist with diagnosing mechanical issues under supervision.
- Retrieve, organize, and stock repair parts, tools, and supplies.
- Load, unload, and transport parts, materials, and equipment as needed.
- Operate basic shop equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Keep the maintenance shop, work areas, and equipment clean and organized.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and service documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and operating procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- Have a high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Have basic knowledge of vehicle components and maintenance practices.
- Have basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn mechanical repair skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Able to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Technical school coursework in automotive repair, completed or in progress, is preferred.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs is preferred.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally with assistance.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Able to safely climb ladders and access vehicles and equipment.
- Comfortable working around noise, vibration, dust, grease, oil, and cleaning chemicals.
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, or emergency call-outs based on operational needs.
